The coots are still on the marsh which is well flooded at the moment. I haven't seen any sign of the mice. Did they listen to my advice about moving out?
Oh, I almost forgot; I saw a dodo. I was surprised to discover on Wikipedia that the last known stuffed Dodo was discarded in 1755. As you can see, if you follow the link, they are wrong. Perhaps I should write to them....

There's one at the Museum of Natural History in Oxford, too, though I'm pretty sure that that one's a mock-up. It's in a special Lewis Carroll display..
Dru: The last stuffed one was at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. it was destroyed as it had gone off!
Since I've joined in the discussion on Wikipedia I've discovered that my postcard is not a real stuffed Dodo, I've met some very charming Dodo fanatics and some kind person put my image where I wanted it.
What a nice place Wikipedia is!
I've always wondered exactly what my Grandpa was thinking when he named his dachshund that!
