Last week I received an email supposedly from my sister. A company called Feed Share was asking me to follow her. There were ‘yes’ and ‘no’ buttons and it said that I could choose to follow or not but I must click. I didn't like the way it told me I MUST click on 'yes' or 'no', so I Googled it and discovered that it was a virus.
I wrote to my sister who already knew about it via other friends who had been victims. Her sons dealt with it as they are both in the computer business. The part that is worrying me a bit is that she said she didn’t click but she opened the mail. I hope that no one has received an email from me inviting them to follow me on Feed Share. I don’t like those kind of things anyway.
Over the last couple of days I’ve turned on my computer twice to find that it’s gone back to the beginning, as it were. I’ve been invited to take a tour an find out how to set up the computer as I’d like it. Fortunately I’ve turned it off and left it for a few minutes and everything is back again. Anyone any ideas as to why it should do that?
I’ve posted some history that I’ve recently learned about the occupation of the village on Still Learning. I thought it was important to write it down as quickly as possible so that it’s preserved. I hope that you find it as interesting as I did.

This stuff is getting more insidious all the time. I hope TrendMicro Internet Security is doing its job for me!
If you are getting those messages, you still have part of the virus active in your system. What anti-virus software, if any, are you using?
TrendMicro is an OK system Veronica, and while many people say they have problems with, as a person with A Ph.D. in Comp Sci, specializing in computer security, I think that the Norton package is the best on the market. (And no, I don't get paid for that advertisement...).
@Don: I don't know Norton is the best at protection, but the last I knew, it was a pig. I wanted software that was lighter on my system.
I imagine that no matter what we use, we're still vulnerable.
Veronica:We just have to hope that the companies that claim to protect us keep up with the viruses.
Don: We've still got McAfee, even after all the problems a few months ago. We did have Norton in the past but had so many problems with it. Rob is seriously considering a free software, we wonder it they could be any worse.
I've done a full check and it didn't show anything up. If it happens again I'll copy out the message an look online to see if anyone else is having the same problems.
It's hard to keep up with all the threats that are coming out all the time.
We use Norton currently, but we're not thrilled by it. We are looking around for something more effective.

Geeze, why can't people just leave us alone and let us play on our computer in peace?
I got a virus & had to call for tec assistance. I asked him why people do that, and he said in college, some of the assignments in computer class is to create a virus. His reasoning is...in order to fix a virus they need to know how to make them.
Phyllis: I wonder if it is true. Do they then realise the trail of mess they leave behind them?
