Oh to be beautiful...

Today was the third session of my second year of injections into the veins of my legs. At the end of the session I told the doctor that I always mean to count them but usually forget. She told me that others had managed to count. ‘How many?’ I asked, ‘About 100’ she replied. I’ve still got a long way to go. So you can tell how bad my legs are. One day I’ll wear a mini skirt again….

I hate needles anyway so I feel for you. I hope that we all share in the day you buy yourself a new mini skirt as a celebration for finishing your treatment.

Recover well.

I suffer with varicose veins (Hereditary) and this year I experienced my first leg ulcer caused by them. I can tell you it was bloody painful! Thankfully due to the skill of the District Nurses team it is now cured, thank the Gods!

Remember the 'time-travelling girl' in on one of your old postcards? I was watching the news on Yahoo last week about the rioting in London and I saw a girl in the crowd wearing the same clothing. I noticed her particularly because everybody else was dressed for the cold weather except her. I searched your archives and sure enough she was the spitting image of the girl on the card. I know it was just a coincidence and I had a vivid imagination, but I thought it was very strange at the time; and no, I hadn't been at the meths bottle either!

My wife inherited her veins from her Dad; his were so bad he had a few surgeries to try and fix the bad ones while she was young. So far she hasn't had to...she's rather tired of being "worked on" after all she's been through.

Thinking of you...

Doris : it's not the needle that hurts but the product stings a little on the more sesitive parts of your legs. So far I've discovered the inner knees are very sensitive.

Josephine: I tell myself that all the time. The mantra acts as a little distraction.

Anon: thanks but no thanks, been there, done that, got the t-shirt...

Helen: It's beginning to look like I'm going to have to post a picture of my new legs in the future.

Cas: It is, she works very quickly, fortunately.

Keith: I remember my grandmother always seemed to have ulcers on her legs. I hope you've finished with that problem for good.

Alan: Hopefully she won't have too many problems. We do a lot of walking in our family, eat sendsibly and so on, it seems that if they are in your genes there's not too much you can do.
