Carrot cake and telephones

I hope everyone is recovering from all of the holiday celebrations. We had a quiet time but still managed to eat and drink too much. We had a lot of fog too; I know we live near the sea, but it’s quite rare here normally.

Dom came home, she’s still enjoying life in Poitiers. She managed to catch up with her friends and study for the after Christmas exams. She found a carrot cake recipe in a recipe book I gave her so she made it for New Years Eve, it was delicious.

Two Phone stories; for a couple of years I’ve been using Olivier’s old phone, but it used to play up after I spilt wine on it. Just before I started exam supervising before Christmas it died on me. Dom was having trouble with her phone so she bought herself a new one. She told me her old one didn’t work but I could try it if I wanted to. It works perfectly, so now I can take pics and make films (when I work out what to do) as well as phone here and there.

Olivier had his phone stolen at a New Years party (You know how it is; ‘friends’ of ‘friends’ turn up and the fun starts). The thief had already karma-ed himself/herself because the screen was cracked. The phone had a lock as well as a pin number so it wouldn’t have been much use at all. He’s now got a new phone and has learnt what a pain phone shops are when they are very busy.

I expect Rob to invent a reason to have a new phone next…

My cell phone started to play silly buggers with me after John G sent me some naughty texts, so I made some delicate adjustments to it with a big hammer. Now it's perfect, doesn't make a sound and costs nothing to run .....

Sorry, the "delicate adjustments" were made to the phone, NOT John G!

I must admit I was sorely tempted though.

when I got my cell phone bill from my recent visit to Provence, I hit the roof but didn't think of doing the "hammer" adjustment to it LOL - thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such kind words, I appreciated it very much, Larry

Carrot Cake is my FAVORITE!!
I took my sister-in-law to a phone mart yesterday and we got three phones and a family plan. Now we all have cell phones and she feels more secure knowing Mike can call her anytime without a long distance charge. (Mike is my brother that is sick).

I commented, but my comment is lost somewhere.

I had to buy a new phone when I stopped working. The company supplied me with the one I had and paid the bill - that was nice.

We got a new phone in Don's name, and it's just fine - however, I still don't like talking on the phone, and probably never will.

Keith: can't you control that friend of yours better than that?

Larry: Thanks for your visit. I did enjoy reading your blog, I will be back!

Phyllis: Next time she makes some I'll send you a piece. I think you will all find cell phones especially useful at this time. Not all hospitals allow them to be on because they can interfere with equipment. Hugs to you all...

Cas: I don't really like phones much either. The reason why I had one in the first place was when I was driving to different schools and the marsh roads can be deserted. Rob always worried about me breaking down.
