When did the change over happen?

Olivier hates it when I use words like Gr8 or U R for 'you are' when I send him texts.  He tells me that I must use correct English and no wonder standards of writing are dropping bla, bla, bla.  Over Christmas he advised me not to keep my phone in my jeans pocket.  I answered that I wasn't worried about fertility problems at my time of life.  He then went on about no one knows the long term effects bla, bla, bla.  I'm supposed to be the sensible one, When did we change over rolls?

In the UK there are programmes with "grumpy old men" bemoaning the downfall of civilisation as we knew it. You never portrayed Rob as quite like that...

You have posted this while I was soaking up the heat of a sauna into my old bones wondering about the very same breakdown in communications!

Hi Anji,

It is easier in with older phones to use U R and gr8 - but with my new all-singing all-dancing smartphone I have access to a proper keyboard so I use the full words.

Personally I prefer correct English (sorry about that ;-) )

:0)

Cheers

S9unds like he's at the 'before' stage of the Bob Dylan song - "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now..."

I just carry my phone in my pocket when I leave the house to go shopping. I have never thought about it, but now....maybe I will keep it in my purse.

Caroline, this was my 20 year old son being the grumpy old man!

PM: Don't rub it in, he has a Blackberry which explains his attitude.

Dru: I haven't heard that song before, but it sums up what is happening in our household

Connie: I'm going to Google this to find out if there really is a risk.

He should be happy to have a smart mum who carries a mobile and in her "jeans".

Caroline: Yes he should, I'll tell him that. At least I know what 'gr8' means
