The Time Traveller

This postcard came to us last week in an album we bought online. The card was posted in August 1925. My eye was immediately drawn to the lady walking in the street. Not a costume worn in the 1920s. The postcard hasn't been interfered with at all. A time traveller? What do you think?

une Parisienne? or even une Americaine? -beach pyjamas were big in the 20s, and a bit more skimpy than this outfit. She reminds me of someone artistic, but durned if I can remember who!

I just looked up Langrune-Sur-Mer cos I like to know where places are, and it turns out it was Juno Beach on D-Day and there was some Very Serious Fighting, presumably along this very street...

I think she is a time traveller. She looks just like a girl I met in 2031, just after the war with Disneyland.

I just heard that the next meeting of the Time Travellers Club is last Thursday, but I won't be able to make it because my Time Machine broke down next Wednesday.

Interesting. That is an unusual outfit for the time.

It is, indeed, an unusual outfit for that time abd rather looks like one from our days. But then, Le Corbusier, built a house around that time too and it looks as it were designed in 2009. So, perhaps not time travellers but visionaries?

Not only completely out of time, but completely aware of the camera, like she wonders what we'll make of her!

Lovely scan, btw!

Dru: I wondered about the beach fashions but not in the North of France! All those names in history which were just ordinary illages and towns reazlly.
The Normandy bits of The Longest Day were filmed here on the Ile de Ré

Keith: I'll be looking out for you on my vintage postcards now.

Cas: i rather like it.

Peter: As a reader of science fiction I know that there are many visionaries - I will look up Le Corbusier.

Alan: She's not at all camera shy. Thank you, I've had lots of practice at scans now, must be near 10,000.
