Monday 17th June 1985
Was the day that we were married at the town hall in La Rochelle. 30 years means that it is our Pearl wedding anniversary. This is what I wrote on our 25th anniversary.

30 years; a special anniversary
On the evening of 1st January 1985 we went aboard the night ferry to Le Havre. Sometime during that night we crossed into French waters and the start of our new lives.
I’ve now been living in France for more than half of my life. In June 1985 we were married at the Town hall in La Rochelle and in September 1990 we became duel nationals of France and the UK. Out three children were all born in La Rochelle.
People thought that we were both mad to give up our "secure" careers as bank clerks – we didn’t know it at the time, but there were many rounds of redundancies to follow in banking.
You only get one life. We don’t regret our choice at all. We’ve had our share of ups and downs – mainly ups, I’m happy to say.

The day after Valentine's
Rob and I had been working together for over a year when he finally asked me out. He’d just been transferred to another branch of the bank that we had been working together in so it was okay for us to go out together. The bank had rules about couples working in the same branch for security reasons.
He originally asked me out on Valentine’s night, but I put him off until the next day as Tuesday night was Lady’s night and I always went out with my girl friends. I remember that it was a foggy evening and he had to come from quite a long way to see me, so he must have been keen.
The rest is history and that was 28 years ago today.

April 1st
Twenty five years ago today, we moved into this house.
Four years ago I officially started up my own business.
This morning I discovered that my name is the second sexually active female name in the US - How’s that for a claim to fame? Though I think I’m getting a little old now….

Silver
Today Rob and I celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary ; On Monday 17th June 1985 we were married in the Town Hall in La Rochelle. Afterwards we had a drink with Rob’s mother and step father. We went to buy a cake and as we both love it, chose custard tart ‘flan’. Today we were planning to have lunch outside at the Avocet in the village, as it's raining and a bit cold we're going to wait until the weather gets better. I always thought that silver weddings happened to old people.

Time for a few numbers.
April 1st was the anniversary of us moving to the village way back in 1986. It was also the third anniversary of my postcard business and yesterday Rob called me over to his laptop so that I could see that we now have 3000 cards online! In a couple of months (17th June), it will be our 25th wedding anniversary. It can’t be right - that only happens to old people.
I heard my first cuckoo of the year on Wednesday 7th.
