Older than I look.
Or is it the other way around? There's no school on Wednesday afternoons here, so over lunch we were talking about what homework needs to be done etc. Olivier announced that for English his class have got to write about the ages of everyone in the family (I think they're learning about comparatives and superlatives at the moment). He's sooo sweet, he offered to make me younger than I am.

Friday 8th March 1974
As I haven't got much to blog about at the moment, I thought that I'd drag out my old diary again. 1974 was the first year I started 'a page a day'. My handwriting was pretty neat and readable for me. Nothing much was going on I see I had a row with my boyfriend at the time. We were always rowing because he was a very jealous type; I stuck with it for a few more months and started to realize that I could actually enjoy male company with out having to avert my eyes in case I might fall in love with any male I came across. If I ever found out that Dominique was stuck in a relationship like that.....

appearances revisited
I've no idea what the film is called in English. The baddy was Harrison Ford. We did enjoy it. This morning Rob called me into a very steamy bathroom.... As he'd opened the window to create more steam the neighbours were treated to shreaks and giggles. What a way to start the week.

Letter From America
Alistair Cooke has finally put down his microphone at the age of 95. I've been listening to his letters nearly all of my life.

You must read this
If you haven't already. Letter from the Smithsonian Institute over at Patchwork Progression. I think I shall be using 'The cranal capacity' of a Barbie as an insult from now on.

Busy, busy week
Not only have I been teaching every morning this week but I seem to have had 'something to do' every afternoon. I always feel sorry for the kids I teach during the holidays, first of all they are usually weak in English, then they have three hours of the subject in one go, sometimes one to one. All this while their friends are probably still asleep.
I really enjoy these lessons and the time goes so quickly. This week I've had a 14 year old called Benjamin who really has made a great effort. For two days we were joined by another boy who really had great difficulties. Two days is not enough to re- teach 18 months worth of language. I could see a little bit of progress but he still has a long way to go. I am really tired.
One of the advantages of working in town was that Rob and I had time to have a coffee on the old port most mornings. It was a bit too cold to sit outside; It won't be long before the seats are filled with tourists. Tomorrow we're going to have breakfast there too.
