It looks like the French government is looking into banning images of women that have been airbrushed to make them look “perfect”.  There will also be investigations into the thin-ness of models on the cat walk. 

The other day I was looking at some magazines on display at the newsagents.  One of them caught my eye and I was reading the titles trying to find out what was wrong with the poor woman on the cover.  Then I realized that she was modeling clothes that were to be featured in the magazine.

Good news for women everywhere

Dominique Strauss Kahn has been questioned by the authorities in France. Apparently he didn’t realize that the women at certain parties he attended in top hotels were being paid to be ‘nice’ to him. I don’t understand the prostitution laws in France, but it seems he’s broken at least one of them. This had to be finished in time for him to get to New York where he has unfinished business regarding his ‘behavior’ last May.

The man responsible for the company which produced PIP breast implants, Jean-Claude Mas, has been in custody since 6th March as his bail hasn’t been paid.

It’s good that justice is being done, but isn’t it sad that we still have a long way to go as regards certain men’s attitudes towards women?

First lady carpenter

I imagine that this postcard dates before 1910.  The young lady was called Juliette Caron, she was born in 1882 and was the only lady carpenter in France. She was working on the barracks at Montluçon when this picture was taken. The back of the postcard tells us more;

"The lady carpenter works these days at the machine depot.  Dad has seen her.. she works well they say.  She works hard and doesn't mind people watching her"

A film made by Dove and some interesting information on how little girls are brainwashed into thinking that they must become perfect. If you watch until the end you’ll see an interesting make over. Visitors from the US might have seen this already. They seem to talk as if all this is something new, but 30 years ago I admit that I lived on 500 carefully counted calories a day until I got down to my ‘ideal’ weight.
