Truman Capote revisited

The quote today on my Google was from Truman Capote, it made me laugh out loud.  I'm sorry, but a slightly off sense of humour runs in my family:

"Finishing a book is just like you took a child out in the back yard and shot it"

Here are my other strange posts about him

I'll never look at my back yard in the same way again.

  2. I wonder if the reverse is true? I recall John Betjeman telling how Weymouth has been described as 'the Naples of the North' and wondering if Naples has ever been described as 'the Weymouth of the South...'

  3. Goodness gracious - I'd normally describe it far more gently as 'farewelling an old friend' !!

  4. I remember books. I used to read them until I had a computer and an eBook reader. Now the bookcase is covered in dust and cobwebs!

  5. Ah, but Keith, you still have books, just in digital format!! Same thing!! ;) And don't let yourself or anyone else tell you different!!

Finishing a book COULD be kind like Capote's saying.. Provided the book was good....

  7. Graham: How many dead ones have you got in yours?

Dru: I love that idea, you've got me thinking...

Kath: That is more like how I feel.

Keith: I'm sure the quote can be adopted to suit modern times

Don:I'm still trying to decide if TC liked children or not...

Avinash: I have never ever thought of a book as a burden. One of the rules of reading says that readers have the right not to finish a book. There are some books I didn't finish
