The river of life flows on

I’ve been to see the doctor twice recently. Once for the usual check up and renewed prescription; All of my test/examination results are excellent. This week I had my flu vaccination which apparently includes the new flu too. I also asked him to look at my knee which I injured two months ago. It still has a swelling on the side. There’s fluid trapped in it, I’ve got to massage it with some gel every night for a couple of months and it will disappear – hopefully.

I was suffering from headaches for about a month. I tried to resist taking too much paracetamol because it gives you… headaches! I cured it by buying a new pillow. - Woke up the next day feeling completely different and no headaches since.

Our doctor will be retiring at the end of the year. He’s been here since I was expecting Dom, she’ll be 22 in ten days time. That’s an awful lot of family history passing under the bridge. He’ll be replaced by a lady doctor.

Talking about time passing. Have a look at this. You have to scroll down to read what it’s about.

Glad you are in good health, despite minor problems. Wow, a pillow. Who knew?

I like the link! And I'm doing a lot of things. :)

Té la mà Maria - Reus: Your comment arrived as I published this post - amazing. The images on your blog are very interesting - I translated some of the text with Google translate - Lots to think about.

Véronique: (?) Pillows are better than paracetomal anyday. I think that being over 50 is a special time of life - as you know ;)

It is hard finding a good pillow. I have gotten lots of them. Hope you feel better.

Arr! I had a similar sounding problem with my knee once. The doctor told me that if the massaging with gel approach didn't work within two weeks then he'd drain the knee with a needle...The massaging worked...eventually. I kept at it for two months or more. I wasn't going to have holes punched in my kneecap. Oh no. So all best wishes with yours!
And strangely (or maybe not) my most reliable cure for headaches is lots of strong coffee. Doubt that the doc would recommend that though.

Have you tried glucosamine for the knees Anji. It really worked for mine. It strengthens the cartilege and reduces arthritic inflammation. You've got to take at least 1500 mill. a day though. It can be expensive too.

Hi Anji, for the best result with glucosamine Sue's right 150mil but also get it with chondrotin. It has clinical results with arthritis.

there was a current affair programme here that looked into pillows, lots of moulds grow in them, moulds and dust mites cause havoc if youre sensitive to them,so thats probably why a new pillow did the trick.
I hate getting new pillows lol they are never the same your old one lol

sad about your doctor retiring,my childhood Dr retired at 90 and died at 98..hmm that makes me sound old lol but he was in his 50's when i was little :)

Connie: it's finding the time to search that was the problem.

Graham. The Doctor told me my lump was too small to be drained and here they do it in hospital. It's supposed to be very painful. Somethng like as painful as if you accidently knock it? It's good to know that the massage does work.

Sue: Glucosamine? I'll have to check to see if I can get it here. I come from an arthritic family so that is useful advice, thank you.

I wasn't blogged: Nice to see you again. My pillow is anti-mould and dust mites - I wonder how long it lasts...

I'm not sure exactly why but this blog is loading incredibly slow for me.
Is anyone else having this issue or is it a
issue on my end? I'll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
